The Cruise Shipping Miami convention, which attracts 10,000-plus delegates each March, is moving to the Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale for three years, starting in 2016.
The event has been held at the Miami Beach Convention Center almost since its inception. It is the industry’s biggest annual gathering.
The 1 million-square-foot Miami Beach center is scheduled for a major overhaul starting in December.
Fort Lauderdale’s newer center is about two-thirds the size of the Miami Beach one, but Broward officials said they will have enough room for the four-day event. The 600,000-square-foot center is located within Port Everglades, which will make ship visits easier than in Miami.
